Portrait Painting Workshop
A full days workshop with me in my studio in the Mendip Hills. Improve your understanding of using photographic references to paint a portrait, creating a full colour painting using water-mixable oils. With hot drinks, cold drinks and lunch included.
Begin your exploration of portrait painting with this all-inclusive, water-mixable oil portrait painting workshop. Under my guidance, you will receive step-by-step instruction where I will introduce how I approach working with the grid method and water-mixable oils. We will begin by drawing out the portrait in pencil first, followed by a demonstration of how to mix realistic skin tones and apply them to your portrait drawing. You will work from photographic references, making the workshop suitable for all experience levels. No previous painting experience is necessary, and all materials are included. This is a relaxed, non-judgemental workshop. 9.30am start – 5pm finish

Walk and Draw Workshop
This one-day workshop involves a walk along the western edge of the Mendip Hills to the summit of Crook Peak, a limestone ridge known for its panoramic views of the Somerset Levels. We will begin at the studio located at the base of Crook Peak, proceed through woodland to reach the peak, pausing for a flask of tea and biscuits to observe the landscape and make sketches or drawings. After returning to the studio, lunch will be served, and we will use our sketches as references for creating a final piece, such as a painting, drawing, or lino print.
All materials and lunch are included in the fee. The walk includes steep and challenging sections, so is intended for experienced walkers. Please bring suitable footwear and weather-appropriate clothing as we will go out in all weathers, (unless it is really bad) and a small rucksack for carrying materials. 9.30am start – 5pm finish
